Write, Teach, Laugh

Springtime Shattered

I was disappointed with what I had achieved with my writing since leaving my day job.  2011 and 2012 were explainable but 2013 was not. Then, on March 31, 2014, I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was ecstatic. Clarity at last. This was going to be great year.

On top of that, in a few days my wife Margaret and I would go on a memorable vacation. Three days of seeing our favorite Country Music stars at the CMA Awards, followed by a week in filmmaker/techie paradise —  the Nationally Association. of Broadcasters show. When we returned from Vegas we were set to see our favorite comedian in concert, and then it would be what my family refers to as Margaret Month — Cinco. de Mayo, followed by Mothers Day, Margaret’s Birthday and Memorial Day. A Springtime of creativity, joy, learning and laughter lay ahead. Then, two days later, Marg had a massive stroke.

I’ve been spending everyday for the past month with her at the hospital . Now, my only wish for this springtime is to have Margaret open her eyes and say, “Hi, Babe.”

Your life can change in an instant. Let those whom you love know that you love them every day.

*** Update: May 12 2014 ***

I did not get my wish. My beautiful wife Margaret passed away today.
